About Us
At Ruby and Lola’s, we are almost always about fun and beautiful things, but there are times when we take things rather seriously – for example when people ask us “What does it mean to be Creative?”
You have heard it all before where people talk about passion for design and finding things that spiritually motivate them. We don’t think much about these overused terms because when you drill down most designers’ passion is in reading designer magazines and finding that their spirituality had come about on a trip – usually in Europe or Asia.
For us, passion is really all about choices – and when we say we’re really passionate we show it by working hard to give you great choices in home décor. We don’t need to be spiritually moved and if we’ve done our job properly, you are the one that ends up getting moved by our choices.
Some people say creativity is all about inspiration. Part of that is true. When we ask you to look through our products, we’re asking you to listen to yourself for that “Aha” moment. Believe us, it’s never wrong.
A lot of creativity is copied, that is from one designer to the next, from one magazine to the next – the same boring old products time and time again. Lola and Ruby don’t copy, and our products are individually chosen because they have that certain appeal – the appeal to stand out, the appeal to be different and the appeal to be individual.
Finally, how much does creativity cost? Visiting any Italian design fair will tell you it costs a lot. At Ruby & Lola’s we think that is so not true! For a few hundred dollars from our catalogue, you can change the entire look and more importantly, the ‘feel’ of a room. For the cost of 1 designer Italian Lamp, you can do the same to your whole house, and be moved by your individuality.
So, what are we all about?
